How honesty are we

Hi all,

Consider this as a rambling blog which will border on life, the philisophy of it and the humour in it all.

The topic i wanted to discuss with you guys who do reach here and read this post today is about honesty. I don't mean "Honesty" in the holier than thou perspective. I mean simple honesty to ourselves and our lives.

How many of us can wake up and know the next 12 odd hours are going to be honest. Honest to our dreams, honest to our hopes and honest to our beliefs. Its a question strung together with fairly simple words but any attempt to answer to this question is going to be lead to some tough answers.

I read somewhere that to live a good life, living for being right is more important than living for being happy. Because happiness messes things up, it leads us to try and do things which we "think" will make us happy. The word happiness is a subjective one, even from a very individualistic perspective. Whereas right is right. Not sure if Im making sense, let me try to explain:

1. I want to smoke, it will make me happy but it ain't right.
2. I want to tell somebody at work that he talking through his arse but it might hurt my career. My career growing makes me happy but the right thing to do would be pointing out that the guy does not know what he is talking about

What a dream it would be if you can lead a life of instinct where you do what your instinct tells you. How amazing would that be....

Any opinoins, ideas, suggestions etc? Any of you greats out there who have figured this one out?
